Mrs. France qualified at the Birmingham School of Chiropody in 1974 as a State Registered Chiropodist after completing a three-year full-time course. Additionally, she fulfilled the requirements for earning a certificate in local anaesthesia. Then, prior to her beginning private practice in Wylde Green in 1981, she held a variety of posts, which gave her the opportunity to gain experience in many different aspects of Chiropody.
These posts included: Birmingham Health Authority School Clinics, Sandwell Area Health Authority, Stourport Health Centre and Kidderminster General Hospital . Additionally, she held commercial appointments at GEC, Alcan Plate, Smith & Nephew and Marks & Spencer. For 10 years, Mrs. France was a clinical tutor at the Birmingham School of Podiatry . In this capacity, she presented the principles of proper sterile instrumentation and nail surgery to third-year students. Additionally, she taught second year podiatry students the skills of clinical treatment and functioned as an examiner of these students.
In 1986, Mrs. France completed a Fellowship in Podiatric Surgery that enabled her to perform bone surgery. Since 1987, her continuing professional education efforts have frequently included international programmes presented in the United States . Her studies there included: diabetology, biomechanics, podopaediatrics, sports medicine and forefoot surgery. In 1996, she earned a Master of Science Degree in Sports Injury & Therapy at Manchester Metropolitan University . This lead to a post as the podiatrist for the Birmingham Royal Ballet and a greater interest in all aspects of sports medicine as it relates to lower extremity function.
Mrs. France currently serves as a Consultant Sports Podiatrist (along with Dr. Shelton) for: Lockwoods of Leamington Spa--outfitters for skiing, climbing, walking and camping as well as for Skivolution ski tuition & holiday specialists. Finally (in keeping with advice frequently given to her patients), she firmly believes that fitness is the reward of disciplined regular exercise. Therefore, Mrs. France regularly completes a minimum of three aerobic + weight-training workouts each week.
